• 15th: Ctshiner creates The Shire after Fraggle Rock server files mysteriously disappear. The world file is named "Nippopolis" by ctshiner, in reference to South Park S12E3 "Major Boobage" and the fantastical world depicted in the episode
• Ctshiner creates the "Hi" symbol at the Shire Spawn. The spawn has not moved since founding, but has been continuously remodeled and redeveloped.

  • Elathuria invents Mr. Wolf, a fictional character who strictly enforces building codes and helps shield individual staff members from blowback. He would go on to evolve into a mythical figure whose sole task is to delete abandoned, unfinished, ugly builds
  • The cost of Duke is increased from $5 to $15, primarily to reduce the number of Dukes and limit the number of builders with unlimited free supplies
  • The concept of a Tyro "City" or a Tyro "zone" is floated by nebbers, to corral poor builders and reduce staff stress
• 16th: The Great Cuboid Disaster, inflicted by LTTylerJ30, takes place in what would eventually become the Temple District. It is the first major Worldedit error to occur on the server. A memorial still stands today at x448 y695.
• 22nd: LTTylerJ30 is promoted to Arbiter
• 28th: the_nom_nom, possibly the Shire's first Bakajin, is finally banned. Though those who experienced his abuse have since moved on, his name still lives on in infamy

• Falore is built in secret by AlphaFish. A server-wide search to discover the secret location ensues

• Shire Loop 1, a major road through the Mainland, is finished
• Architect rank is created. Shanevr722 and Studmuffin are the first to receive the rank
• Future Architect Lobstrex first joins the server
• With both the warpgate and magic carpet plugins no longer working correctly, the Shire staff relents on their strict 'no flymod' rule and allows players to start flying freely
• Ethompson777 exploits a loophole in the Adminium app, allowing him to OP and promote himself to Lord. He's labeled a Usurper by nebbers as a result

• Lawnmower69, creator of Disneyland and early spawn developments, joins the server
• Sea Level is declared to be a universal constant. This ordinarily would not be noteworthy, however at some point after Minecraft Alpha, the world's generated sea level was one block lower and made determining correct sea level a mess

• 3rd: Arcticstar is promoted to Arbiter
• 15th: Nebbers attempts to retire and hand the admin duties to Sambrears. He's pulled back in several months later to upgrade the server
• Jommers, future Architect and Arbiter, joins the server
• Aedesius, prolific builder and architect extraordinaire, first joins the server
• Lobstrex13 is temporarily demoted to Bakajin for leaving trolly signs in someone's build. He would donate and become a duke later in the month

• 5th: The honorable Smoot, Supreme Allied Architect of the Shire, is promoted to the world's first Archineer (Architect/Engineer hybrid). The promotion took place in Riverwood in typical Riverwood fashion (Overly bright and ornamented in an especially vulgar and tasteless way; gaudy). We look forward to Smoot's contributions to the STA.

• 16th: The first TRIPLE PROMOTION ceremony takes place in Shirecraft History at the Main Stage. Chthonia and Malaclord are both promoted to Architect, and Zalidia is promoted to Artisan

• 8th: Kiwimango Theme Park held their Grand Opening! Kiwimango is the Shire's fourth theme park, after FridayFunLand, Bucketheadland, and Emerald City(is Emerald City technically a theme park? Or do people just live in fantasy there?). A planned fifth theme park, DesertWorld (SW of To'ufenua), remains unfinished after investors abandoned the project. Kiwimango is a project led by Zalidia and Chthonia, with major contributions by Jasperskie, CoffeeandChill, and Malaclord

• 12th: Zalidia is promoted to Architect within the Sunset Theater in Arbemaisonnes
• 12th: The Spooktacular BC runs from October 20th through November 2nd. Contestants redesigned main world warps into spooky themes. Winners announced on November 12th. There are 4 different winners, as each set of ranks were able to win. DavidCharlie, Foxytisy, Malaclord, and nebbers are each winners for their entries.

• 28th: The FridayFunLand Time Capsule ceremony takes places - to be re-opened in 2 years to-the-day (assuming we remember)

• 18th: The Unofficial Shire Census for 2024 takes place, organized by Suntinfunny. You can view the results in the Shire Global News discord channel.

• 1st: We hosted our first April Fools competition for cringe-worthy builds.

• 3rd: Malaclord is promoted to Arbiter at the Spawn Stage! Malaclord becomes the first new staff member since Antheus was promoted to Arbiter in February 2022.
