Odd Facade Resort
The Odd Facade Resort and Casino, an architectural wonder nestled in Mainland City, stands as a testament to innovation and luxury. Completed in 1920, it emerged as the largest resort of its kind during that era, captivating visitors with its unique construction and a plethora of attractions.
Engineers embarked on a groundbreaking endeavor, utilizing several tons of TNT to carve the resort into the side of a cliff. This distinctive feature set the Odd Facade apart, with part of the structure seamlessly blending into the solid rock. The four-story marvel boasts a checkered exterior that became synonymous with its name.
Attractions Within the Cliff
The resort's interior is a treasure trove of entertainment and amenities. The first floor hosts a hot spring, while Ayu's Pub provides a lively atmosphere for patrons. Ascending to the second floor unveils Mugs Coffee, the 2nd-floor annex housing MalacDonald's restaurant, Mainland's Shining Casino, the Jack Torrance Ice Rink, and the opulent Gold Room Ballroom. The third floor introduces the Fire Bar & Grill, offering a culinary experience elevated above the city.
The Odd Facade Resort is more than a leisure hub; it's a transportation nexus. An STA Railway station runs underneath the resort, facilitating convenient travel for guests. On the first floor, a historical touch awaits – an antiquated nuclear fallout shelter added in 1952, a testament to the resort's adaptability.
Exquisite Accommodations and Renovations
With 32 guest suites, the Odd Facade Resort ensures a luxurious stay, complemented by the soothing ambiance of its cliffside setting. Over the years, the resort underwent two significant renovations, each enhancing its allure.
In 1990, Vetous and Nebworks engineering groups orchestrated a full facelift, revitalizing the Odd Facade's charm. The second transformation in 2012, led by Malaclord Architects, introduced ten new suites and the renowned MalacDonald's. As part of this renovation, the original observation tower, beset by structural issues, was demolished.
Strategic Locale and Builders
Strategically situated between Central Mainland and Shire Heights to the north, Little Caffa and Temple District to the south, Polaris Hospital to the east, and Brandywine to the west, the Odd Facade Resort seamlessly integrates into the cityscape. Its creation can be credited to the visionary Nebworks LLC engineering group, whose pioneering spirit brought forth this iconic masterpiece of Mainland City.
Behind the Scenes
The Odd Facade was built by nebbers in November and December 2010. He used TNT to carve out a small mountain, and the resulting voids helped define the shape of the building. As with most of his builds, the building was unplanned from the start, with design happening simultaneously during construction. It was remodeled in 2015 by Vetous and Nebbers and expanded in August 2019 by Malaclord and nebbers.
