Overview

The New Sammichian Empire (more commonly known as the Fulfwotz Empire, or currently as the Fulflet Union) is a relatively new nation, formerly being the Fulfwotz Kingdom before being incorporated as an empire by Emperor Sammich the Magnificent. It is a massive and powerful nation, and also one of the most advanced ever since the Cephluss Incident. It is named for the ancient Old Sammichian Empire, and is currently ruled by Emperor Sammich from the capital city of Fulfwotz. Its motto is No Limits, No Morals, No Shame, or Narlimius, Narmoralius, Narshamius in ancient Sammichian, where the saying first originated.

Brief History

The New Sammichian Empire was founded by Emperor Sammich on May 24th, 1929, after the Civil War. Previously a small kingdom consisting only of Fulfwotz and the surrounding lands, once King Sammich was coronated, the kingdom experienced a period of aggressive annexation of nearby towns and villages. Although the citizens of said settlements were unhappy with the notion of being ruled by the kingdom, it was said that the kingdom allowed them to keep their customs and religions, so long as they swore fealty and paid taxes. This was continued even after the incorporation of the New Sammichian Empire, although many settlements had grown prideful of their leaders and converted to the Orthodox Sammichian Trinity or Sammintology. It thrived, becoming a Shire World Superpower and a founding member of the Shire United Nations. However, its prosperity was threatened when Emperor Sammich was nearing the end of his life. Fortunately, through various advanced and undisclosed medical treatments, possibly involving the use of dark magic, allowed him to maintain his youth and live for hundreds of years, thus asserting his role as quite possibly the most influential monarch in Sammichian history. In year 2001, a communist revolution sparked in the poorer district of Fulfton, before the entire city was occupied by NICA. Emperor Sammich and other various celebrities, nobles, and high-ranking citizens fled the capital city of Fulfwotz. (See Shire Global News). Soon, Cedon Wexfield, a Floffwym native, was leading the government under the title of Premier Wexfield. After he and his proteges had firm control over the goverment, the communist liberators poorer citizens hoped for announced the shift in government to totalitarianism. Various important landmarks and buildings, such as DePrey Institute and the Fulfspyre were renamed and restructured as to remove any trace of the former empire. The New Sammichian Empire is currently known as the Fulflet Union.

Government

The New Sammichian Empire is ruled by Emperor Sammich the Magnificent, being the sole monarch of the empire. He assigns a trusted members of the Imperial Order to oversee day-to-day operations in outlying terrirtories, called Chancellors. The most important Chancellor is High Chancellor Ben, who oversees day-to-day operations in the capital of Fulfwotz. Religion has no role or place in the government, and the HIgh Priest of the Orthodox Sammichian Trinity is not an advisor to Emperor Sammich. The Empire is known for its extremely lax laws regarding the use of drugs and general freedom overall. But with such relaxed laws comes a very high crime rate, an issue which plagues the capital of Fulfwotz quite famously. King Cephluss believed he could solve this issue by simply making everything legal, so as to say there would be no crime rate because the very concept of crime does not exist anymore. It proved disastrous and several hundred people were killed in the span of five hours.

The main government ideal is Libertarianism. This is demonstrated by the large amount of personal rights and freedoms citizens have. The Empire is also capitalist, but the government allows itself to place regulations on certain commodities and possesses a level of economic interference.

The total population of the Empire was approximately 246,699,000 persons, according to the most recent 2012 census.

Geography

The mass of the Empire is mainly restricted to the region of Demmatrodine, though it does consist of some outlying towns and villages. It has a wide array of biomes, consisting of desert, jungle, savannah, forest, plains, and taiga. The western part of the Empire is dominated by the massive Mount Wrath, an active volcano, and the largest in the Shire. It was responsible for a considerable amount of damage to the village of Al' Zingahashbrown when it erupted sixty years ago.

Culture

Due to over half of the population of the Empire being Sammichian, the culture is greatly influenced by traditional Sammichian practices. They believe in the exercise of vice and self-indulgence heavily, and celebrate annual festivals dedicated to individuality and love. The environment has always been a large part of Sammichian life, and the Empire is a strong supporter of the Shire Environmental Administration. Fame and wealth are very important to the Sammichians of the Empire, and recreational drugs play a large role in Imperial society.

Religion

Most citizens are of the Orthodox Sammichian Trinity, which worship three goddesses: Seya, the Goddess of Sex, Veya, the Goddess of Vice, and Leya, the Goddess of Love. There was controversy surrounding the church in 1992 when a disgruntled ex-minister, Serdes Martet, left the church and published an autobiography which documented corruption within the church. Claims include embezzlement, verbal assaulting of clergy members, and the High Priest himself discharging a member simply for disliking his haircut. The most famous Orthodox house of worship in the Empire is St. Flafbenz Holy Cathedral in Fulfwotz, although there is Homage Week, a week when all people of the Orthodox faith travel to Quartzium, the ancestral home of the three goddesses, according to the Quarsam. Another prominent religion in Sammichian society is Sammintology, a relatively new religion awash in hatred and controversy from the media. Called a cult by most, it is a wealthy and corrupt organization who praise the ancient space titan Sammoth. Whether their faith is true or not is questionable. The headquarters of the church is the Sammintology Center in downtown Feverly Hills.

Economy

The Empire has a very powerful and stable economy, being one of the most wealthy nations in the Shire. It is a famous and important exporter of entertainment, jewelry, furniture, medicine, and the rare spices found in the Demmatrodine Region. Its main imports are timber, sandstone, electronics, and water. Although some of these are rather expensive commodities generating much revenue for the Empire, the Imperial Vault is still overflowing with a much larger amount of money than those products and taxes combined should make. It is suspected that the Empire is involved heavily with the Shire Black Market, due to its corrupt and unscrupulous nature. When Fulfwotz (the hub of trade and imperial economic power for the Empire) was infected and breached during the White Plague in 1968, the economy collapsed and the Global Economy suffered a massive decline. It took years to repair the typically-robust economy once the plague was contained.

The Empire utilizes a heavily-capitalist economy, with very little government interference. Although the Empire tends to stay out of economic happenings, it does not permit monopolies, even though several corporations verge on total monopolization of their respective industries (See Follywood Film Corporation.). There is no sales tax in many imperial holdings.

Military

The New Sammichian Empire is regarded as having one of the most powerful armies in the world. While it only has 91,600 current citizens on active duty, which is small compared to other Shire Superpowers, their soldiers are trained at rigorous and thorough boot camps scattered throughout the harsh Demmatrodine terrain. The very specialized training enlistees go through makes them a formidable force in battle. The Imperial Armed Forces are divided into three different units:

• The Imperial Army (51,040 personnel)
• The Imperial Navy (30,800 personnel)
• The Imperial Air Force (9,760 personnel)

The three units handle land, sea, and air, respectively. Despite having less personnel than the army, the navy is considered the most impressive of the three units. This is mainly because of the natural barriers around the Demmatrodine Region that protect the capital of Fulfwotz and other settlements (such as the mountains surrounding Bongva Valley and the many vast deserts that spot the area) already serving to defend the region, resulting in the prioritization of nautical defense.

Unlike other Shire nations, Military service in the Empire is in no way mandatory, and there has not been a draft for hundreds of years. Because of the anti-draft outlook of the government, the Empire was a popular destination for draft-dodgers during the Civil War. The Empire is a firm believer in disarmament of nuclear weaponry, and has not possessed any nuclear warheads since 1983.

Libertarianism

The New Sammichian Empire is considered one of the most liberal nations in the Shire. In nearly every city, town, and village, citizens possess a large amount of freedom, thanks to freedom-loving Sammichian monarchs in the past. Abortion, same-sex marriage, euthanasia, prostitution, and recreational drug use are all legal, with most prostitution and recreational drugs regulated by the Empire. An additive named Antinicotium, discovered by DePrey Institute, is added to government-regulated drugs, to dilute the addictive effect and make them safer. However, some people still resort to illegal drug trade because the regulated drugs tend to be more expensive.

Although many places in the Empire embrace libertarianism, some despise it. The most notable of these would be the town of Floffwym. It has a dutiful, hardworking, and industrious society, and has outlawed things such as same-sex marriage and basically anything else listed above. It is believed that this is because of the large human population, still influenced by Christianity. Although Emperor Sammich could make an executive decision and demand the Chancellor legalize such things, he has been in no position to do so after being usurped by the Floffwym-born Cedon Wexfield and the creation of the Fulflet Union.
