Thrennex, an icy tundra island situated in the western reaches of the Shire, has captivated researchers and explorers alike with its rich history and unique geological features. Nestled just north of the Republic of Orange and Purple's capital, Paarsdam, and flanked by the King's Peninsula to the southeast and Clementine to the northeast, Thrennex offers a glimpse into both the ancient past and natural wonders of the region.

A Land of the Sammichians

Thrennex is believed to be the ancestral homeland of the Sammichian race, humanoid creatures bearing a striking resemblance to monodontidae and monodontids, such as narwhals, belugas, dolphins, and porpoises. Fossil evidence found on the island suggests that Sammichians have inhabited Thrennex for millions of years, with the earliest records dating back ten million years.

Approximately six thousand years ago, the first civilizations emerged on Thrennex. These early Sammichian societies lived in small congregations, residing in tents fashioned from animal pelts adorned with beads and semiprecious stones. These primitive dwellings served as a testament to the resourcefulness of the island's inhabitants.

Mythology and Geological Shifts

The geological history of Thrennex is as captivating as its inhabitants. Sammichian mythology holds that the island was not always a frozen tundra. According to legend, Imos, the king of gods, cast his judgment upon the Sammichians by freezing Thrennex as punishment for their perceived irreverence. This mythological narrative adds a layer of mystique to the island's icy terrain.

Resource Hub for Paarsdam

Thrennex played a pivotal role during the construction of Paarsdam, the capital of the Republic of Orange and Purple, located just off its southern coast. The island's abundant resources, including slate, blue granite, coal, and iron, were essential in the creation of the capital's architectural wonders.

The Ichor Falcon

Thrennex is also renowned for being home to the Ichor Falcon, which serves as the national bird of the New Sammichian Empire. This majestic avian species boasts the largest wingspan of any known bird, measuring an astounding 12 feet.

Modern Communities and Natural Wonders

Today, Thrennex is home to several small communities. The town of Vadam, situated in the island's north, features striking blue ice walls and sub-zero temperatures, making it a unique and defining location on the island. Vadam is poised to become the final destination of the Vadam Line once its construction is completed. For now, it is well-connected by the West Shire Rail.

Hvithill, a small walled community perched on a high cliff in central Thrennex, offers picturesque views of the island's frozen landscape. In the southeast, a grand viking-esque stave building stands proudly near the coast, adding to the island's historical charm.

The Ancient Citadel of Ceriumuse, ruins in the far western reaches, stands as a testament to one of the earliest known cities in the world. This site is claimed by the New Sammichian Empire and holds great historical significance.

Sammichian Ice Fields, situated in central Thrennex, are a natural wonder that holds deep historical and environmental importance to Sammichians. The region is diligently protected by The Shire Environmental Administration.
