The To'ufenuan economy is entirely run by the fishing and tourism industries. To'ufenua is one of the poorest (if not the poorest) nations. The only reason most buildings are still there is because foreigners are attracted to the little tropical paradise and maintain those small huts.
To'ufenua used to be one of the poorest areas on the Shire, up until Motu Oire and the other Maumoturoas started emerging as economic powerhouses for the country. A plethora of companies can be found on these islands.

History
To'ufenua has many interesting plants and fungi on its islands. On the Strange Archipelago, there are two incredibly rare fungi, the trypospongium and the slimeshroom. The only known place where they grow naturally is on this small Archipelago. Both were also brought to Arbemaisonnes for Zals Tree Collection, but that's where it ends.
The islands of To'ufenua have been inhabited since around 1200 by the To'ufenuans, but where they came from is unknown. The rapid development of the cities of the inhabited islands has made it hard for any archeologists and historians to do their work on these islands and all they have to go off of are Arbemaisonnese archives. The first mention of the natives in these archives suggest that only the Maumoturoas were inhabited by the To'ufenuans at the time of Arbemaisonnese colonization around 2019, and that every island had one chief, who also happened to be the master navigator, which seemed to have taken on more of a ceremonial role as opposed to a practical one, as the To'ufenuans didn't voyage anymore after discovering the islands of To'ufenua.

Lots of interesting trees can be found in To'ufenua as well, and most of them are native to these islands. On Motu Herehere, there is the To'ufenuan palm, which is quite common there, and there is also the Hereherepalm, the smallest palmtree ever recorded. On Motu Ra'au, there is the Tahatai palmtree, which is native to the island. It used to be extremely rare, but fortunately its numbers are finally growing.
After being incorporated into the Arbemaisonnese Empire, To'ufenua was ground zero for Arbemaisonnese nuclear tests, mainly on Motu Ra'au. After successful tests, these islands became home base for the nuclear program, with two missile silos. The location was chosen because of it's proximity to large population centers of several large empires.

Around 2019 the To'ufenuans declared independence after a couple of years of unrest in the colony. Arbemaisonnes never invaded, because To'ufenua would threaten to use their own nuclear weapons against them. This caused an unofficial ceasefire between the two, which still exists today. No treaty was ever signed.

To'ufenua is a small overseas territory of the Arbemaisonnese Empire, even though Arbemaisonnes hardly has a military presence there. It is a part of the empire on paper, but in reality you might as well call it independent. However, Arbemaisonnes has made attempts at regaining control of To'ufenua since this was the location of nuclear tests and their one missile silo, however, this is exactly why they have failed; To'ufenua has nuclear capabilities.

Economy

To'ufenua used to be one of the poorest areas on the Shire, up until Motu Oire and the other Maumoturoas started emerging as economic powerhouses for the country. A plethora of companies can be found on these islands.

History
