Pennsy is a neighborhood on the eastern edge of metropolitan Oranjestad. Pennsy is known as a bedroom community to adjacent Aboite, and is famous for its flower farms and the Skodabed Winery. It is south of the independent community of Nivosus, west of Petra & Jalmeera, and north of the Monon neighborhood.

History

The first non-native settlers arrived in what is now Pennsy in 1835. They arrived as a result of the end of the War of the Grand Coalition, which opened up lands to the east previously preserved as a buffer between Oranjestad and eastern tribes. Those who settled the area were primarily members of the Church of the Third Revelation. Modern-day Pennsy is almost entirely Third Revelation worshippers as a result.

Pennsy was officially founded in 1836. It was annexed into Oranjestad in 1919. Pennsy was the first area occupied by Athitican forces during the Second World War and was the last area to be liberated as well.
