Carved Halls National Monument is an ancient, protected site located northeast of the Shire's spawn point, centered around coordinates x=-530 and y=430. Built into the sides of four steep cliffs, Carved Halls is recognized as one of the oldest unaltered structures on the Shire. The structure is believed to be of late Neolithic origin. Today, it functions as a luxury hotel and national monument.

Location and Builder

Carved Halls lies just north of Lord Nebbers’ Mountain Retreat and Disneyland, and just south of the town of Hwales. The original creator of the complex was Elathuria, built in early 2011 or possibly December 2010.

Architecture and Layout

The monument spans across four major cliff faces, linked together by two cobblestone arched bridges and several stairways. These elements interconnect the individual features of the site, which include:

The Queen's Garden: Situated on the far north cliff, this small graveyard honors King Theresa Menethil and Queen Lianne Menethil. Though simple in design, the area is of great historical and symbolic significance.

The Old Watchtower and Ogre’s Haunch Restaurant: The next cliff to the south contains a watchtower perched on its summit. Carved into the cliff face beneath it is the Ogre’s Haunch Restaurant, a rustic eatery with panoramic views.

Carved Halls Hotel: The third cliff face houses the Carved Halls Hotel, a luxury establishment with four uniquely themed rooms: Iron Suite, Lapis Lazuli Suite, Gold Suite, and Diamond Suite. The hotel is surrounded by well-maintained gardens and water features.

Heated Pool Cliff: The southernmost cliff of the complex contains a small, naturally heated pool, offering guests relaxation amid dramatic scenery.

Historical Significance

Although the precise origins of the Carved Halls are unknown, Shire historians generally agree that the complex is of Neolithic heritage. As such, it has remained under protection and is one of the few early structures to remain largely unchanged. Its age and architectural integrity have made it an enduring landmark in the Shire.

Nearby Landmarks

Adjacent to the site is the Great Lava Battle of the Lords landmark. Although not directly tied to the Carved Halls, it is a notable piece of Shire history. In early 2011, Lords Nebbers and Ctshiner engaged in a legendary lava battle here, the remnants of which are still visible on the landscape.

Carved Halls National Monument continues to serve both as a historical marvel and a unique tourist destination, blending ancient mystery with modern luxury.
