New Brumley is a vibrant and historically layered island community in central Oldeshire. Situated northeast of Mainland and northwest of New Orange City, it has a rich history dating back to the 1600s, marked by periods of development, quarantine, and rejuvenation.

Early Settlement and Ravenholm

The history of New Brumley begins with the establishment of Ravenholm in the 1600s. Founded by Rapidracoon808, Ravenholm was one of the first significant settlements in the region. Rapidracoon808, known for his role in establishing the Explorer’s Guild and Rapid's Burger chain, brought pioneering spirit and innovation to the island. However, Ravenholm's prosperity was short-lived as it faced devastating waves of infectious diseases. Quarantined and isolated for many years, the town eventually succumbed to these afflictions, leading to its eventual demolition.

Era of Abandonment and Transition

Following the demise of Ravenholm, New Brumley went through a period marked by transient and unsuccessful settlements. The island gained a reputation for its numerous abandoned and demolished buildings, earning it the name “Mr. Wolf Island,” referencing the frequent visits by the Mr. Wolf Demolition company. This era painted a picture of a land struggling to find its lasting identity.

Amidst the island’s fluctuating fortunes, Cptrex's Farm, established contemporaneously with Ravenholm, stood as a beacon of continuity. Pioneering in automated farming techniques, the farm became a symbol of resilience and innovation. Its survival and prosperity over the centuries played a pivotal role in maintaining a sense of hope for the future of the island.

The turn of the 21st century marked a renaissance for the island. In 2020, amidst a surge of development and rejuvenation, the island was renamed New Brumley. This new name was a tribute to the small town of Brumley in western Oldeshire and its founder, the late Arbiter 0031benjy. The renaming symbolized a fresh start and a homage to a beloved figure whose impact on the Shire was profound and enduring.

Integral to New Brumley's identity are the memorials dedicated to 0031benjy. These memorials serve not only as a remembrance of a beloved community leader but also as a reminder of the island's commitment to honoring its past while forging a new future.

Geographical Subdivisions of New Brumley

Northwest Area: The northwest sector of New Brumley is a vibrant mix of the past and the present. Here, Cptrex’s Farm stands as a living piece of history, showcasing the island's long-standing agricultural prowess and its pioneering role in automated farming techniques. The landscape is further enhanced by the presence of 14 apartment buildings. A defining landmark of this region is the New Brumley Lighthouse. The market area known as Rex’s Row brings a bustling commercial life to the northwest, featuring a variety of businesses from Norwella’s Smoked Meats to the fiery flavors of Rim Assault hot sauces, making it a vital part of the community’s daily life.

Central Area: In the heart of New Brumley lies the central area, characterized by its rich red brick architecture that gives the locale a distinguished and timeless feel. The roads, also paved in brick, complement the buildings, creating a cohesive aesthetic. One of the most striking features of this area is the long, orange stained wood boardwalk that elegantly wraps around the southwest part, offering scenic views and a leisurely stroll for residents. A towering archway and a permanently lit beacon welcome visitors from the mainland. Nearby, a historical marker sheds light on the ancient hand-carved tunnels below, dug by Shire Founder Ctshiner. Amidst these historical and architectural marvels are 14 homes, the luxurious Benjamin hotel, the New Brumley Pandemic Relief Fund HQ, and the contemporary art museum featuring works of 0031benjy. Perched atop the highest hill, the tall communication tower of BrumleyBell Telephony Inc stands with a hidden past, concealing the abandoned BrumleyBell Reactor Corridor beneath, a relic of a bygone experimental era.

Southeast Area: The southeast portion of New Brumley, distinctly different in its use of dark spruce woods in building construction, sets itself apart from the central area’s brick dominance. This area is a crucial link between New Brumley, the Mainland, and New Orange City, courtesy of Route 1 Highway, one of the first major highways built. The only train station on the island, serving the Quintus Line, Dulcia Line, and Zelos Line, is a hub of activity and transport. This area is also a blend of commercial and residential life, with establishments like Schlurpy Schlurpy Goop Ice Cream Stand and MalacDonald’s Restaurants catering to diverse tastes. The area also hosts Rim Assault hot pepper greenhouses.
