Motu Oire

Motu Oire is an island of To'ufenua in the Maumoturoa archipelago. This island is the second smallest inhabited island of To'ufenua, has two beaches and a bridge connecting it to Motu Maufare.

Economy

The economy of Motu Oire has been in decline ever since the island Totuaka started rising. The island is mainly filled with shops and businesses, while Motu Maufare is mainly residential. There are almost no multinationals on Motu Oire, ignoring the one Costa Copy and a bank from elsewhere. All the shops are from locals who live on Motu Oire or nearby Motu Maufare. Motu Oire however has seen some success recently, as the Shire Transit Authority, in collaboration with the national government, created a train station on the island, making Motu Oire a link between Totuaka and the rest of the world.

Politics

The relatively conservative local government of Motu Oire has allowed locals to keep their businesses from being bought out or bulldozed by bigger, richer multinationals, although there are a few of them on the island. A motto often thrown about on Motu Oire is "It is necessary that To'ufenua stays To'ufenuan". To'ufenua and Motu Oire specifically has had a long history of being an overseas territory of the Arbemaisonnese Empire and de jure still is, but back in the day it was a very popular tourist destination or place to live for the Arbemaisonnese, which is why this sentiment is common in To'ufenua.
