Burrone is a dazzling resort and casino district nestled within a dramatic ravine in central-southeast Oldeshire, directly across from the heart of Venezia Nuova. Known for its sleek, aquamarine architecture and circular prismarine structures, Burrone is a hub of luxury, entertainment, and modern design within the otherwise classical city.

Geographic Setting

Burrone is uniquely situated inside a natural ravine, with its terraced complexes embedded along the walls and floor of the gorge. The opposite side of the ravine is occupied by the core of Venezia Nuova, giving the two districts a striking visual dialogue.

Despite the geographic separation, Burrone is fully integrated into the city via bridges, pedestrian walkways, and the Venezia Overground, a local light rail system that serves the greater Venezia Nuova metro area. This makes Burrone easily accessible for both locals and visitors.

Architecture & Layout

Burrone’s design is defined by its use of prismarine, glass, and quartz materials—forming layered, disc-like buildings that hover above lush landscaping and carved sandstone ledges. The complex includes:

  • Casino Rotunda – The main circular gaming hall, offering a wide array of traditional and modern table games, with a skylit dome and rooftop bar.
  • Luxury Suites – Situated in the upper rings with sweeping views of the ravine and skyline beyond.
  • Thermal Spa & Mineral Pools – Built into natural spring-fed basins and lit from below with sea lanterns.
  • Performance Atrium – A large glass-encased amphitheater for concerts, fashion events, and seasonal galas.
  • Retail Galleries – Upscale boutiques and cafes are connected via elegant skybridges and tiered terraces.

The stepped turquoise pyramid at the ravine’s southeastern end is a stylized public fountain, visually anchoring the district and reinforcing its theme of harmony between water and architecture.

Function & Culture

Burrone is a symbol of modern affluence in Venezia Nuova. It serves not only as a destination for leisure and entertainment, but also as a statement of the city’s forward-looking ambitions. Its glowing structures are especially captivating at night, when the district comes alive with light, sound, and celebration.

Transportation

Burrone is served exclusively by the Venezia Overground, a local rail system that provides fast and scenic transit between Burrone and other quarters of Venezia Nuova. No regional or long-haul services operate here.

Affiliation

As a district of Venezia Nuova, Burrone operates semi-autonomously under the city’s broader municipal umbrella. A coalition of developers and civic leaders manage the resort’s operations, zoning, and public events.

Trivia

Burrone means “ravine” in Italian, a direct reference to its striking terrain.

It was originally built by Architect SlyyPenguin.
