The Portal

The Portal is a foreboding structure built by Master_Chief, located off the southern coast of Postrema. It is situated in the deep sea south of Vanir and appears to share a connection with The Boneyard, both thematically and structurally. The Portal is not serviced by any rail line and can only be accessed by sea.

Overview

The Portal is one of the most ominous and otherworldly locations in Postrema. Suspended over dark waters, the central structure is a monumental red spire surrounded by twisted rock outcrops and encased within an enormous translucent purple field. The eerie field creates a surreal visual effect, as though sealing the structure within a magical or dimensional barrier.

Surrounding the field are dozens of black-and-white floating ships resembling those seen near The Boneyard, adorned with bony arches, necrotic sails, and glowing green energy conduits. Many of these appear to be in a slow, silent orbit around the dome, as if guarding or worshipping it.

Inside the field, rising above the lava-filled basin, sits a large skeletal construct with four claw-like arms and a central void-like rift. Humanoid statues appear suspended in animation at the core, giving the impression of guardians or sacrificed figures caught in a timeless spell.

The entire build conveys a sense of suspended ritual — a gateway either long sealed or just moments from opening.

Features

• Central Portal Chamber – A raised lava-flooded platform with clawed ribs enclosing a rift.

• Energy Pylons & Conduits – Bright green rods and piping connect the surrounding platforms and floating ships, suggesting energy or power flow.

• The Field – A massive translucent purple shield encasing the main platform and multiple ships, potentially functioning as a containment field.

• Fleet of Necroships – At least a dozen skeletal warships hover around the site, many equipped with glowing elements and fins or weapon-like protrusions.

• Guarded Entry Platforms – Access to the dome is flanked by tall red spires and ribbed gates, with signs of ritualistic or military design.

Connection to The Boneyard

The Portal bears heavy stylistic resemblance to The Boneyard — particularly in the design of its ships, skeletal motifs, and use of glowing green energy. Both sites suggest a shared origin, possibly part of a greater necrotic or interdimensional faction. Where The Boneyard is a grave of titans and beasts, The Portal may be their point of entry.
