The town of Waldorph was founded on 8 April 1816 by Skylan sympathizers from recently-occupied Oranjestad after the War of the Grand Coalition. It was built on top of the ruins of the ancient city of Waldorphus - the walls of the old city still exist today. The colony was accepted under the Oranjestad banner after Oranjestad sovereignty was reaffirmed in 1867. On April 30 2018, control of the territory was transferred to the New Sammichian Empire as part of the decolonization efforts by Oranjestad.

Waldorph is primarily an import/export town, bringing Oldeshire goods into the area and exporting The Vaelthranni Compact products. It's a valuable colony as a trade post.

Waldorph is also home to the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen, and experimental pastry factory that distributes throughout Oldeshire under a variety of brand names.

Utility Muffin Research Kitchen

The Utility Muffin Research Kitchen is a Waldorph-based experimental pastry factory founded in 1933. It specializes in muffins, breads, and edible glitter.

Founder Dan Sterling opened the Kitchen after studying abroad in New Enderton. When he returned to Waldorph, he volunteered to help a local bakery with its accounting. Dan never lost his love of Enderton breads, and from there came the idea to launch a bakery of his own.

The UMRK is focused on made-from-scratch, hand-crafted breads using the healthiest ingredients including unbleached, unbromated wheat flour. The Kitchen has a 6-ton stone hearth oven that can bake up to 160 loaves at one time, and the oven’s steam injection system gives the breads their distinctive Enterton-style crust. Utility Muffin Research Kitchen products are distributed worldwide, and can be found in stores in 35 locations across the Shire.
