Shiredale is a charming neighborhood located along the northern coast of the Mainland, situated north of the Shire Heights District and east of the Central District. To the northeast, across the shimmering waters, lies the picturesque island community of New Brumley. Historically a blue-collar, working-class enclave adorned with small bungalow-style buildings, Shiredale has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, breathing new life into this coastal community.

History

Shiredale has deep roots in the Shire's history, dating back to its early days. It once thrived as a blue-collar neighborhood, known for its industrious residents and modest bungalow-style homes. Notably, it was home to the Mainland's first hospital, a landmark that has since been demolished. Nevertheless, the legacy of the old hospital lives on through Hospital Road, a tunnel road connecting Shiredale to the Central District.

In 2019, Shiredale experienced a revitalization effort that brought about significant changes to its landscape. Many of the aging and dilapidated bungalow-style buildings were replaced, ushering in a new era for this coastal neighborhood. The revitalization project aimed to breathe fresh vitality into Shiredale while preserving its unique character.
