The Sammichian Imperial Chancellory coat of arms.

The Sammichian Imperial Chancellory is an ancient department of Sammichian government that acts as a parliament or senate to the Emperor. It was created roughly 3,500 years ago in one of the first cities in the Shire, Ceriumuse, after the self-destructive reign of Emperor Cepextay VI of the Old Sammichian Empire. It was decided that a system of checks and balances was needed to maintain stability in the empire. While it has been an integral part of Sammichian society ever since then, it was disbanded for around 75 years after the dissolution of the Old Sammichian Empire. It is currently active, and is based in the building of the same name in Fulfwotz.

Organization

The Chancellory is divided into three sections; the Council, the Senate, and the Assembly. Proposals are usually sent from the Emperor to the Assembly, which approves of the motion, and is then sent up to the Senate for approval, and finally the Council. This is the typical process; when in a state of National Emergency or other such situation, the Council may approve a full transfer of authority to the Emperor, temporarily setting aside the formalities.

Council

The Council is the most influential section of the Chancellory, capable of exterminating an entire law without question. It is compromised of the Chancellors of imperial territories, and presided by the High Chancellor of Fulfwotz (making them the de facto leader of the Chancellory).
