Huge Space Laser

The Huge Space Laser or HSL or Splaser is a huge space laser developed by The CLS. It is by far the most destructive weapon known to exist.

Technology

The HSL uses gateway-singularity technology to channel and concentrate energy from The End and forms a high-power beam that is capable of destroying virtually anything as long as enough energy was built up. The only two limiting factors of the HSL are its instability which comes with concentrating large amounts of energy and the time it takes for a shot to charge up.

The HSL concentrates energy in a highly-controlled and sustained gateway-bubble. The bubble is kept in a state where any energy can enter it, but no energy can escape it. As the bubble's energy level increases it becomes more and more difficult to keep it stable. This does not necessarily require high amounts of energy from the outside, but it is very computationally expensive, since the margin of error becomes exponentially lower with the amount of built-up energy.

The HSL can fire its shot by bursting the bubble in a controlled manner and concentrating the escaping energy into an almost infinitely thin beam of pure destruction. The tunnels capable of this process need to be replaced after each shot.

The HSL can be transported to The End in its entirety where it is able to use a well-timed gateway-bubble to deliver the beam practically anywhere and cause instantaneous destruction.

It takes approximately 2 months to charge up a shot capable of doing 1 GTNT (GigaTNT) of damage, this amount of damage is capable of destroying entire cities in just one shot.

History

The HSL is believed to be conceptualized by CLS scientists and engineers all the way back in 1994, shortly after their discovery of end gateways, but the technology to control bubbles in a precise enough manner was only developed by 2020. It took 3 more years to engineer and construct the HLS making 2023 the year of its completion. Smaller scale tests have been successfully conducted on several asteroids and smaller planets.

The development of the HSL did not happen without causalities. The largest known accident happened during the construction of the first prototype in 2021, it destroyed the entire research station the weapon was being built in due to a miscalculation. (Though some believe it to be sabotage.)

As of yet, the weapon has not been used in battle and it remains unknown what situation The CLS would resort to using it in. Considering its power, this is better left a mystery.
