In 2016, Shire Money Magazine crowned Haverhill as the #2 urban place to live in the Central Shire metropolitan area and ranked it #9 nationally. This recognition was attributed to Haverhill’s commendable attributes, including low crime rates, a robust economy, and outstanding educational institutions.

Geography

Situated directly north of Olde Orangetown, Haverhill finds its place east of Gala, west of Summit and Saturn Valley neighborhoods. Skylan Expressway marks its western boundary, while the Connoor River outlines the northern edge.

History

Founded in 1814 by James B. Brown, a Lamename Village native, Haverhill began as dense, untouched wilderness inhabited solely by hunters and trappers. The first log school house emerged in 1824, evolving into the modern Berkeley Pit High School site. Formally incorporated into Oranjestad in 1871, the area witnessed the establishment of the famous Berkeley Pit High School in 1917. The construction of The Sister Grimsby in the 1950s and subsequent rapid development since 2002 have transformed Haverhill, notably with the extension of Tier 2 and Tier 3 platforms and major structures like the Shireflix global headquarters.

Transportation

Integral to the Oranjestad tiered road system, Haverhill boasts connections to four elevated tiers. It also intersects with two rail lines and provides access to the Grand Narthex, a large subterranean hall connecting to the underground neighborhoods of Lusus and Submerciful. The neighborhood features a Hyperloop train stop on Tier 3.

Parks

Haverhill showcases a wealth of public parks across its tiers:

  • Tier 1: Garfield Outdoor Event Center, Bailey J. Park
  • Tier 2: Gorky Park, Bloodflood Canopy (a small gazebo)
  • Tier 3: Zyno Armed Forces Tribute Plaza, Oranjestad Steelworkers Monument, Orange City Visitors Plaza
