Esthar University
Esthar University is a renowned architectural college located in the northwest region of Oldeshire, just northeast of the settlement of Whitevale. Despite its small size, Esthar University holds a prestigious claim: it is the oldest continuously operating university in the world, founded shortly after the now-defunct Shire University. The institution was established by About12Eskimos and has earned global recognition for its avant-garde architectural style and isolated, aquatic campus.
Campus Design & Architecture
True to its focus on architecture, Esthar University is celebrated for its bold, experimental designs. The campus spans three small islands, with six distinct buildings, all constructed using white quartz, glowstone, and glass, accented with green or blue highlights. These structures are linked by thin, floating causeways that traverse the surrounding waters.
Notably, the university is inaccessible by land. Visitors and students can only arrive via boat or the Cerelia Line, which connects to the campus via a suspended monorail.
Notable Buildings
Main Hall Featuring a striking double-tower structure shaped like a broad “M,” the Main Hall is the visual centerpiece of the university and serves as its administrative and academic hub.
Dormitory Tower Located west of the Main Hall, this uniquely shaped residence hall sports an oblong oval design, housing the majority of Esthar’s student population.
Cafeteria Tower Positioned east of the Main Hall, this tower is topped with a rotating cafeteria, offering panoramic views of the surrounding waters and campus islands.
Biome Hall Set on a separate northern island, Biome Hall is a U-shaped, glass-dominant facility with quartz and blue highlights. It serves as a center for environmental design and botanical study.
Lecture Atrium Situated on a northwestern island, the large atrium and lecture hall features soaring ceilings and flexible teaching spaces. It’s often used for symposiums, guest lectures, and exhibitions.
Transportation
The Cerelia Line is the only rail connection to the university, entering the campus via an elevated track.
Boat access is permitted via designated docks on the outer edge of the campus islands.
There is no pedestrian access from the mainland, reinforcing the university’s sense of seclusion and focus.
Legacy
Esthar University is not only a place of higher learning but also a living exhibit of architectural experimentation. Its island setting, stunning use of materials, and commitment to innovation continue to attract students and visitors from across the world.
