Castle Wolfen-Neb, a medieval marvel nestled in the heart of the Mainland, stands as the ancestral seat of the venerable Nebbers lineage. Built directly into a cliffside, the castle's formidable stone walls are a testament to centuries of history and architectural prowess.

Architecture and Layout

Over the centuries, Castle Wolfen-Neb underwent transformative changes. The original cliffside, upon which the castle was constructed, has been meticulously chiseled away, leaving behind an intricate network of stone walls and towers. The interior of the castle is a labyrinth of twisting hallways and spiraling stairs, connecting deep underground to the enigmatic Chamber of Souls and extending into an extensive network of tunnels, rail lines, and sewer systems.

The main structure, rising 30 meters tall, bears the weight of history and lineage. Atop the castle perches a towering lookout, an additional 30 meters in height, providing panoramic views of the Mainland.

Historical Significance

Throughout the centuries, Castle Wolfen-Neb served as a focal point for the Nebbers family, witnessing the ebb and flow of time. The castle played a crucial role in the region's history, with Shire Loop 1, one of the earliest interstate roads, running along its crest before turning eastward. Remnants of an old rail line on the east side of the castle, tunneled through the ruins, harken back to an era of transportation innovation.

Restoration and Modern Era

In the 19th and 20th centuries, Castle Wolfen-Neb experienced significant disrepair, with the remnants of the throne room and living quarters succumbing to the relentless passage of time. However, in 2019, a comprehensive restoration effort breathed new life into the historic stronghold. Today, Castle Wolfen-Neb stands as a captivating tourist destination, inviting visitors to explore its mysterious corridors and catch glimpses of a bygone era.

The castle's complex history, intertwined with the Nebbers lineage and Mainland's evolution, adds an air of mystique to this architectural gem. Castle Wolfen-Neb stands not only as a testament to medieval grandeur but as a living chronicle of Mainland's rich heritage.

Behind the Scenes

This was one of the first buildings nebbers ever made. It predates the server going public, having been built in October 2010. It never had a throne room or living quarters, and was primarily used to provide a birdseye view of the surrounding area. The castle sat unchanged for years in its cobblestone state. The only significant change to the castle came when the height limit was first changed after the Adventure Update in November 2011 and the lookout was extended higher. During the Mainland restoration of 2019, the castle materials were greatly altered, and the exterior, especially the east side, received a significant upgrade, including new tunneled areas and a new rail line. The remaining pieces of the original cliff were whittled away to appear as a solid stone wall. The remodeling was primarily by nebbers and Spaicol.
