Arena Island is a large and multifaceted island situated in the heart of Oldeshire, positioned directly north of the Mainland, south of Equos, and west of Elathuria Island. The island, which is divided east and west by the Aether Line, combines a rich history with a growing modern community.

Notable Features

Ancient Battle Arena: The most prominent feature of Arena Island is the large ancient battle arena located in the southern half of the island. This arena, covering an area of approximately 130 meters squared, is shaped like a deep goblet and plunges to a depth of 125 meters. It includes five competition platforms, three of which are suspended in the air by powerful magnetic forces, and a central platform supported by pillared bridges. The arena's original polished purple obsidian appearance has weathered over the centuries into its current mossy, crumbling stone state. The arena also serves as an important outlet for the surrounding community’s sewer system.

Sylvari Community: Arena Island is unique for being home to the last remaining community of Sylvari people, an elf-like race known for living in trees. This community, situated east of the battle arena, is organized around four noble families and is a protected reservation.

Infrastructure and Connectivity

The southern edge of the island features several stone piers and the imposing Imperial Drawbridge, which connects Arena Island to the Mainland. This multifunctional bridge supports road, rail, and aqueduct traffic, and is notable for its two main towers.

The most populous area of the island is the west side, which includes 30 upper-middle-class homes dating back to between 1700 and 1920. This area is known for its historical significance and also features an ancient, battle-scarred fort, possibly related to Dendrago Tower found in nearby Shiredale. Additionally, it hosts "Zyno’s Texture Pack Room," an ancient underground hall, and a popular beach area with a distinctive red and beige sandstone lighthouse.

The north side of the island is more rural, with 12 homes, a small sports arena, a large park, and Zyno’s Botanical Garden center, technically part of Equos. This area is also notable for its hidden tunnels and ancient mines.

Despite its proximity to two large cities, Arena Island's development was initially slow. However, it has recently seen significant growth, becoming home to a large population. The community's blend of historical and natural attractions, coupled with modern amenities, makes it a unique and appealing location within Oldeshire.
