Aetheria
Aetheria is a medieval-inspired city situated on the northern edge of Oldeshire, strategically straddling the borders of the Lost Valley Region and Kaluara. It is a foundational member of The Vaelthranni Compact and was constructed by Lord Drekar. With its dramatic landscape, fortified citadel, and symbolic architecture, Aetheria is both a cultural beacon and military stronghold.
The city’s most iconic feature is the Aetheria Citadel, perched between two steep hills on the eastern side of town. Connected by a 55-meter-long skybridge, these hills support both a towering watchtower and the main fortress. Beneath the skybridge hangs a massive banner representing the city: a red cross atop an orange sphere on a yellow field. This emblem is visible across the city and serves as a unifying symbol of Aetheria's legacy.
Geography and Design
Aetheria is nestled between two rivers and surrounded by rolling grassy hills. The town’s layout reflects this topography, with narrow cobblestone streets weaving between stone and oak-roofed buildings. The main entrance to the citadel is a broad stairway known as the Path of Kings, leading up from the lower streets to the fortress gate.
The city’s compact layout combines utilitarian and ceremonial design, with civic buildings, temples, shops, and homes all densely packed. A small dock allows for boat travel on the nearby rivers, while rail access is provided via the Cerelia Line.
