Tahatai Palmtrees on Motu Ra'au

Tahataipalms are a subclass of To'ufenuapalms known for their tall, usually thin trunks and unusually symmetrical leaves. They originally emerged in warm areas, but some have adapted to be able to live in temperate climates as well. One presumably extinct family of this subclass is only known because of fossils. Maybe it is still alive, but nobody has discovered it so far, so it is presumably extinct. This subclass has one independent species, the Tahatai palmtree
